MedExpress opens newest center, partners with area medical center | April 2010

MedExpress strengthened its position as western Pennsylvania's patient-centered urgent care provider today when it opened its newest center in Tarentum and announced a collaboration with Alle-Kiski Medical Center (AKMC).

MedExpress Urgent Care, which opened centers in Bloomfied and Belle Vernon in February, employs more than 400 people in Pennsylvania and last year treated more than 300,000 people in the state. The Tarentum location, on 303 East Tenth Avenue, will be the 16th MedExpress center in Pennsylvania and 42nd nationally.

"Providing access to high-quality, affordable urgent care by focusing on the entire patient experience has been our hallmark since we opened our first center nine years ago," said MedExpress Vice President of Development & Marketing, Erich Lipphardt. "Our newest center allows us to extend that commitment to the people in Tarentum, Natrona Heights and surrounding communities."

The partnership with AKMC will center on streamlining referral processes, providing for a continuum of care and creating open lines of communication to support best practices and quality patient outcomes.

West Virginia company also names Vice President of Human Resources and Vice President of Clinical Operations MedExpress Urgent Care, a national leader delivering affordable, high-quality care for those seeking non-emergency medical treatment, announced today the appointment of Michael Geldart, JD, as Chief Operations Officer. MedExpress has also announced the appointment of Russ Sullivan, JD, as Vice President of Human Resources and the promotion of Troy Steckler to Vice President of Clinical Operations.

The key roles strengthen and broaden the management team at MedExpress, which operates 40 full-service walk-in urgent care centers across the country, with several under development and scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2010.

Geldart, who joins MedExpress from a previous role as Executive Vice President at CCS Medical and as a partner at Holland & Knight, LLP, will be responsible for the supervision and oversight of business and clinical operations and will support strategic direction for the Company.

Sullivan will be responsible for the development and execution of strategies for staffing, training, employee relations and compensation; payroll automated information systems; and organizational design. Previously, Sullivan was the Director of Human Resources for Alliance Care, and Vice President of People Development at American Dental Partners.

Steckler, who has been with MedExpress since May of 2003, will be responsible for clinical operations oversight; clinical policy and procedure development; office and clinical supply research; equipment and usage guidelines development; as well as the acting HIPAA privacy and OSHA safety officer. Previously, Steckler served as the Regional Director of Clinical Operations for MedExpress in Florida.

In time for back-to-school, MedExpress has recently begun offering $20 sports and school physicals.
