MedExpress announces the opening of its eighth neighborhood medical center in North Jersey on Oct. 29 in Ledgewood. The new center will offer a wide array of urgent care, wellness and prevention and employer services to help keep local patients and employees healthy. As a welcoming gift to the community and in preparation for the upcoming flu season, the new Ledgewood center is offering free flu shots to patients, ages 4-years-old and up, from Oct. 29 – Nov. 12. Other nearby North Jersey MedExpress centers in East Brunswick, Green Brook, Hazlet, Lodi, Springfield, Totowa and Watching are also now offering free flu shots to patients through Nov. 12.

“We’re very excited to be joining the Ledgewood community,” said Dheeraj Taranath, D.O., MedExpress Regional Medical Director for New Jersey. “Neighborhood medical centers, such as our new location in Ledgewood, play an important role in the community’s health care. Our Ledgewood medical team is completely focused on providing high-quality care that’s available when our patients need it. We even coordinate care with other area health care providers such as area specialists, PCPs and hospitals so that patients receive coordinated, comprehensive follow-up care when needed.”

The new center at 502 State Route 10 offers convenient features that help most patients get in and out in under an hour. The center is staffed by a full medical team and is open 12 hours a day, seven days a week, with no appointment needed. They offer walk-in treatment for everyday illness and injury as well as more advanced offerings including X-rays, IVs, EKGs, labs, minor surgery, stitches and treatment for broken bones, sprains and strains. MedExpress offers wellness and prevention services such as flu shots and physicals to help patients maintain their overall health. Occupational health services for employers such as workers’ compensation and screenings are also available.

Ledgewood’s center opening coincides with the beginning of flu season, which typically begins in October. According to the CDC, fall is an ideal time to get vaccinated for the upcoming flu season.

“Getting a flu shot is an important step in protecting yourself against the virus and staying healthy this winter, and you can get one for free at our new center until Nov. 12,” said Taranath. “It’s not too late and we recommend getting one as soon as possible as it can take two weeks after receiving a flu shot for the body’s immune system to fully protect itself against the virus.”
