Glen Dale Elementary students learned about first aid and injury prevention during Thursday morning’s “build your own first aid kit” program.
Led by representatives from MedExpress, the program taught students about how germs are spread and when to visit the doctor.
Students also put together their own first aid kits.
School officials said teaching kids about this topic at this age is important.
"The basic knowledge is definitely needed, because you never know when someone at home may take a fall, and it is a child at home that has to make that call to 911. So, it's important to give them that information. It also gives them self-confidence,” said Kim Wood, physical education teacher.
"I think it's really important to do that because I love my family so much,” said third-grader Gracen Cline.
