Atlantic Health System, an integrated health care delivery system, and MedExpress Urgent Care, a walk-in neighborhood health care provider, are collaborating to open a new urgent care center in Rockaway on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 346 Route 46.
The Rockaway center will mark the opening by offering free flu shots to patients ages four and up Nov. 7-13.
The new center will join 10 existing MedExpress neighborhood medical centers in northern New Jersey that coordinate care with Atlantic Health System’s extensive clinically integrated network of physicians, hospitals and other care sites. The jointly owned centers, which include the new Rockaway location, enable MedExpress’ urgent care patients to seek care at an Atlantic Health System facility if additional or more advanced care is needed. In turn, MedExpress locations can serve as an extension of the services available within Atlantic Health System, as MedExpress centers offer a broad scope of walk-in services.

The Rockaway center will care for people of all ages, providing urgent care, employer health services and basic wellness and prevention services. Walk-in treatment is available for everyday illness and injury – including treatment for common fall and winter ailments such as colds, flu and upper respiratory infections – as well as additional services including X-rays, IVs, labs, minor surgery, stitches and treatment for broken bones, sprains and strains. Local employers can use MedExpress for employer health services that include workers’ compensation, injury care, pre- and ongoing employment screenings, physicals and regulatory exams. Basic wellness and prevention services include sports physicals, routine physicals and immunizations to help Rockaway residents maintain good health.

The new location will have multiple exam rooms, a procedure room and an X-ray suite. The center will be open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with no appointment necessary. MedExpress accepts all major insurance plans and offers affordable pricing for people without insurance. The center will be staffed by a full medical team that includes medical providers, nurses, radiologic technologists and customer service representatives. As local health care partners, MedExpress and Atlantic Health System will always honor patient choice for additional care.
