MedExpress announces the opening of its first neighborhood medical center in central Florida on May 24 in DeLand at 1328 N. Woodland Blvd. As a welcoming gift to the community, the DeLand center is offering free sports physicals to patients ages five and up from May 24 through June 6.

The new center will care for people of all ages, providing urgent care, employer health services, and basic wellness and prevention services. Walk-in treatment is available for everyday illness and injury, including more advanced services such as X-rays, IVs, labs, minor surgery, stitches, and treatment for broken bones, sprains, and strains. Local employers can use MedExpress for a host of employer health services including workers’ compensation, injury care, pre- and ongoing employment screenings, physicals, and regulatory exams. Basic wellness and prevention services offered at MedExpress include sports physicals, routine physicals, immunizations, and tobacco cessation counseling to help DeLand patients maintain overall good health and well-being.

“Our new center in DeLand is part of our commitment to making sure local patients and employees in central Florida have access to patient-centered care that meets the needs of their families and busy schedules,” said Zorayda Puello, MedExpress Area Manager for Florida.

“We’re honored to join DeLand as a neighborhood health care partner and look forward to providing high-quality, convenient, and affordable care – one patient at a time.”

The center in DeLand will be open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with no appointment necessary. MedExpress accepts all major insurances and offers affordable pricing for those without insurance. The center will be staffed by a full medical team, which includes customer service representatives, nurses, medical providers, and radiologic technologists. As a community health care partner, MedExpress believes strongly in the importance of working with fellow community health care providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. When necessary, the DeLand team can help refer patients within the broader health care system, including referrals to specialists, primary care physicians, and hospitals.

MedExpress has 22 neighborhood medical centers in Florida, with plans to bring the same warm, welcoming approach to as many as 7 more communities across the state in 2017, including new centers in Jacksonville and Ocoee, slated to open later this year.
